When you’re swapping out bulbs in a Sidel Matrix oven, you’re doing more than just changing a light. You’re basically managing how a PET preform soaks up heat. If your voltage or wattage is even slightly off, your temperature curve shifts. That’s when you start seeing those annoying issues—uneven walls or that cloudy “pearlescence” in your finished bottles. Nobody wants that.
Why the numbers actually matter
We build our replacement bulbs to a strict 380V spec to mirror the original Sidel SBO setup. We aren’t just aiming for “close enough.” We match the ohmic resistance and filament length so the power density stays the same across the whole tube. It’s a precision thing. Here’s why: a 380V rating lets the lamp hit the right wattage without killing your transformer. If you try to run a lower-voltage bulb on a 380V circuit, it’ll likely burn out in a few days. On the flip side, a higher-voltage bulb won’t get hot enough to soften the resin in those few milliseconds the preform spends in the heating zone. It’s a tight window.

One thing to keep in mind
Those high-wattage 380V tubes put out a massive amount of heat. That means your oven’s ventilation has to work hard. If your cooling fans are clogged or acting up, these bulbs are going to run way too hot, and they won’t last nearly as long. Just keep your airflow clear and the quartz will stay happy.
