
Can a few new lamps actually save your old blow molding machine?
If you’re running an older PET machine, you know the frustration. You’re staring at the cycle times, wishing they were faster, and thinking the only way out is to drop a huge chunk of change on a brand-new machine. But before you go shopping for a replacement, take a look at your oven. Most of the time, the bottleneck isn’t the mechanical arm or the mold itself. It’s just that your heat isn’t hitting the preforms hard enough. The secret is in the heat density. Standard quartz tubes are fine, but high-output halogen infrared lamps are a different beast. We basically pack more wattage into every millimeter. Why does that matter? Because your preforms hit that perfect stretching temperature way faster. Once that happens, you’ve got two choices: you can speed up the conveyor to pump out more bottles, or you can dial back the oven temp and stop wasting electricity. Getting them installed is the easy part. We designed these to be drop-in replacements. Since we use standard R7s or Sk15 connectors, you won’t have to rip open your control cabinet and rewire everything. It’s a simple swap. Just a heads-up: if you’re jumping to a 400V system for that extra punch, double-check your contactors. High-voltage tubes bring the heat, but they can put some stress on your electrical setup. We also put a special coating on the quartz glass. It shifts the infrared spectrum so the heat actually sinks into the PET wall. No more scorched surfaces or uneven bottles. But keep it real—it’s not magic. You can’t just throw high-wattage lamps into a machine with bad ventilation and expect a miracle. If you do, you’ll probably bake your sensors and warp your reflectors. You have to balance the heat. If your cooling blowers can’t keep up, the oven gets too hot, and your preforms will start to sag before they even hit the mold. Get the balance right, and your cycle times drop. Get it wrong, and you’re just burning through expensive lamps.
