
Keeping Things Warm (and Safe) with IP55 Infrared Heaters
When you’re designing for bathrooms or patios, you’re fighting a constant battle with moisture. It’s a tough environment. We build our IP55 infrared heaters to handle that, but there’s a tricky balance we have to hit: giving you instant, cozy heat without blinding everyone in the room. Nobody wants a heater that feels like a stadium floodlight—especially when you’re bathing a baby or just trying to wake up in the morning. Dealing with the glare Most standard short-wave lamps put out a harsh, bright white light. It’s annoying and, frankly, too intense for a home. To fix this, we use specialized quartz glass and filtered coatings. Essentially, we nudge the light spectrum. We block out that piercing visible light and lean into the long-wave and mid-wave infrared bands. You still get all that deep, penetrating heat you need to kill the chill in a room, but the light stays soft. No more “industrial warehouse” vibes in your master bath. The nitty-gritty of the build That IP55 rating? It’s more than just a spec on a box. It means we’ve sealed the housing tight so dust and water jets can’t sneak into the electrical terminals. We use high-temp gaskets and alloys that won’t pit or rust when the bathroom gets steamy. One quick tip on where to put them: these units pack a lot of heat into a small spot. If you mount them too low, the guard can get hot enough to burn. Stick to a height of at least 2.2 meters. It gives the heat waves room to spread out and feel natural. The honest trade-off Here’s the thing about filtering the light: it comes with a small price. Because we use coated quartz tubes, you lose a tiny bit of raw thermal efficiency compared to a naked halogen element. You’re trading a sliver of wattage for a product that’s actually safe to have around your family. It’s a trade we’ll make every single time. Just make sure you wire it to its own dedicated circuit. It prevents those annoying voltage drops that make the element flicker.
