
Getting Your Sidel Matrix Heat Just Right
If you’ve ever tried to swap out an OEM lamp and found that the bottles just aren’t coming out right, you know the frustration. It’s not as simple as just picking a bulb with the same wattage. It’s really about the spectral output and heat density. We built our replacement infrared lamps to be true drop-in replacements for Sidel Matrix systems. The goal is simple: your PET preforms hit the exact temperature they need, and you don’t have to touch a single setting on your machine.
Why the “Math” Actually Matters
Here is the thing about temperature curves. If the voltage is off by even a tiny bit, the filament temperature shifts. That might sound like a minor detail, but it changes the wavelength of the infrared radiation. And when that wavelength shifts? The PET resin doesn’t absorb the heat the same way. We calibrate our filaments so the radiant flux matches the OEM footprint perfectly. This stops those annoying cold spots in the preform wall—the kind that usually lead to uneven stretching or, worse, bottles bursting on the line.
Built for the Grind
These tubes deal with intense heat, so we use high-purity quartz glass. It’s designed to take a beating in high-cycle environments without giving up. Plus, we added specific coatings to keep the IR energy focused on the preform, rather than letting it leak into the oven chassis. One quick tip: if you’re pushing these lamps to their max wattage, keep an eye on your ventilation. If your cooling fans are clogged with dust, the ambient temperature climbs. That’s a fast track to burning out your filaments early.
No Headaches During Install
We used standard industrial connectors, so wiring them up during a changeover is fast. Since the dimensions are identical to the Sidel originals, you don’t have to mess around with the lamp holders or reflectors. You just swap the old tube for ours and keep running your existing heating profile. It saves you from that tedious trial-and-error dance with the HMI screen. You just plug in, play, and get back to production.
